This part of the website contains details of events external to the SGSA but which may still of interest to those living and working locally.

The most significant current event is the potential to re-introduce secondary education in Swanage through the Government's "Free School" initiative.

An informal group of parents, teachers, teaching assistants and governors have established themselevs under the banner of "Education Swanage". Their aim is to provide secondary education in the local community following the Dorset County Council decision to "reorganise" it and move it away from the town.

Proposals must be submitted by the end of May 2011, with a decision from Government expected by September.

Welfare Housing Trust (who currently own the old school buildings) have agreed to gift it, and part of the site, to Education Swanage. A ready made and pupose built facility would clearly be a significant benefit.
